If a certain woman on the 2-Day Crew secretly owned a golden lasso and an invisible plane, not one of our staff members would be surprised. She’s the Event Services Captain, a frequent, beloved presence and volunteer at the 2-Day office, and a member of It’s The Journey’s 2015 Hall of Fame. She’s none other than our one of a kind Wonder Woman, Susan Droege! You’ve seen her around, and she may have even facilitated your check-in at the 2-Day Walk, but do you know the origin story of our very our Superwoman?
Susan is a graduate of Kennesaw State University. She and her husband Todd own Droege ATA Martial Arts, and have been working in Cobb County for over 30 years. Prior to that, she served for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves as a part of an Aerovac unit, retiring as a Master Sergeant. She’s deeply committed to serving others, and is an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Her generosity with her time and resources extends to her nephews and nieces, both biological and “adopted.” Her German Shepherd Gunner is the furry apple of her eye, as her Facebook pictures will 100% attest.
Susan has been with the 2-Day Walk since 2004, and is a breast cancer survivor herself. She has served in various capacities over the past several years, including route marking, chief cupcake maker (an unofficial title), and now reigns as the benevolent Queen of Event Services. As Event Services Captain, Susan oversees check-in, the 2-Day Concierge, the 2-Day Store, t-shirt distribution at the final B’Rest Stop, and does a lot of prep leading up to the 2-Day Walk Weekend. She’ll make you feel welcome, she’ll get you settled, and she hustles all year long to make sure your 2-Day Walk experience is an incredible one. We love you, Susan (and we’re not just saying that because you give us cupcakes)!
