As we rocket toward the holiday season, working on your fundraising for 2016 is often the last thing on your mind. You may be missing out on some of the most generous donations available that can be remarkably easy to obtain- end of the year (EOY) giving. Donors give 80% larger gifts on average in December (source: Here are a few ways you can utilize EOY giving:

1. Companies and individuals are trying to get the last of their tax-deductible giving in before 2016. Putting out a simple and straight-forward ask by email, letter, or Facebook this week may really put you ahead for 2016!

2. Don’t forget to check if your company is set up for matching gifts to It’s The Journey. If they do have a matching gifts program, but don’t have It’s The Journey listed as a charity recipient (and would be willing to add us), give the office a call (404.531.4111) and Trudy ( will be happy to help you with that process. Most often, it is your company’s Human Resources Department that handles matching gifts.

And don’t forget to check if your spouse or partner’s company provides matching gifts- another often overlooked resource that could really add some “oomph” to your fundraising in 2016!

3.  Tis the season- this is “the season on giving” on so many levels. Whether a gift, an act of kindness, or a donation to a worthy cause, this is the time of year that we strive to be our best and most generous selves. So as your friends, coworkers, family, and neighbors look for an outlet for their gratitude, be sure to share your connection with It’s The Journey and the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. You may be pleasantly surprised how many people want to help you help others affected by cancer this holiday season!
